Iris Society Flower Show
Saturday, May 22nd
Trailside Center at the corner of 99th & Holmes
Set-up and Judging 8 a.m.; Open to the public at 1-4 p.m.
Theme: "Iris - You Can Bank On Them"
The Trailside Center will be filled with the glorious rainbow of colors and fragrance that gardeners around the world love and associate with spring. On display will be some of the latest varieties as well as heirloom varieties exhibited as individual specimens and as artistic arrangements.
The public is invited to participate by exhibiting any named variety (variety must have been grown by the entrant) in the horticulture classes. Unnamed varieties can be entered in the artistic design classes. Youth can compete for awards in the Youth classes which mirror the Adult classes. To encourage youth involvement in the joys of gardening, GKCIS will sponsor any youth 18 years old or younger who enters an exhibit in the flower show with a one year membership to the American Iris Society. This membership includes 4 issues of the AIS bulletin full of interesting articles and iris photos.
For more information about the show contact the show chairman, Carolyn Ash, at 913-486-5337.
